Mark S. Laufman


Mark S. Laufman is executive vice president, chief legal officer and secretary of GridLiance. He leads GridLiance’s legal department and is in charge of all corporate, transactional, and regulatory matters affecting the company. In addition, he is responsible for corporate governance matters and serves as a key advisor to the GridLiance Board of Directors.

Laufman has more than 30 years of legal experience working on energy transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, and other transactions involving transmission and renewable energy development. Before joining GridLiance, Laufman ran a private legal practice in Washington, D.C., where he advised clients on energy-related transactions and provided strategic counseling to utilities, independent power producers, technology developers, financial institutions, government contractors, and other energy industry participants. Before opening his legal practice, Laufman was a partner at the international law firm Vinson & Elkins LLP. His prior experience includes work at Pillsbury, Skadden and at Duncan, Weinberg, Genzer & Pembroke.

Laufman graduated with honors from the University of Texas and received his law degree from George Washington University, National Law Center, where he graduated magna cum laude and was admitted to the Order of the Coif.
